Welcome to the Steelman Sheep page!We have been keeping sheep since 2000. We started out with Poly pay crosses, then commercial Suffolk, and currently raise registered Katahdins. We got Katahdins in 2005. Katahdins are a hair sheep so shearing is unnecessary. Katahdins come in a variety of colors. We raise Katahdins because they shed, are very economical to keep, and because they have wonderful temperaments to work with. We keep sheep because we like to eat lamb. Our lambs are forage only fed (hay and grass). We are in transition to being a certified organic property. We sell lamb meat by the whole or half carcass. Call in the spring to reserve a lamb if you are interested. Our ram (Marshmallow, Mello for short) is mainly white with red highlights. He is RR codon. Mello has a 'perfect' Katahdin coat that sheds out completely every year. He has dark feet. Rusty is a mainly red ewe with white markings, she looks like a mini-Hereford. She is QR codon. Snow is a mainly white ewe with black spots. Once the lambs are born we blood test them. RR lambs are then listed for sale. QR lambs are raised for slaughter. We track the growth weights of our lambs each spring for 90 days. We are looking forward to doing business with you. We accept |
